About this game

Watch the pads light up, then tap the growing color-and-sound sequence back!

What this game is

Four pads light up in an order, and you tap that order back. One step to begin with, then two, then three: every round adds one more.

Each pad has its own note, so you end up memorising a short melody as much as a run of colours. Past a certain length your ear starts remembering before your eyes do, and that is what keeps you going one more round.

How to play

Watch first, then answer
Taps do nothing while the pads are lighting up. Your turn only starts once the whole sequence has played, so there is no need to rush your hand in.
One mistake ends it
The moment the order breaks, the run stops. Your score is the length of the last sequence you completed, so it goes up by one with every round you clear.
The sound is a clue too
The four pads carry four different notes, so playing with sound on is much easier. It works muted, but colours alone are noticeably harder to hold.
Sound wakes up on your first tap
Browsers only allow audio after you touch the page, so the first tap is what turns the notes on. Silence at the very start is normal, not a fault.

Frequently asked questions

I cannot hear anything
Audio starts after your first tap. If it is still silent, check your device's mute switch or whether the browser tab itself is muted.
How is the score decided?
It is the length of the sequence you managed to repeat in full, going up by one for each round you clear.
Is it free?
Yes. One Google sign-in is all it needs and there is nothing to install.
Does it work on a phone?
It opens straight in a phone, tablet or desktop browser. The four pads fill a good share of the screen, so mis-taps are rare even on a phone.
