Ride the loop line by ear, with the real station announcements
What this game is
This is a way to ride the Seoul Subway Line 2 loop by ear, using the real station announcements. The route map lights up the station you are at, and when the announcement finishes it moves on by itself. Nothing here is scored and nothing is won.
You can switch between the inner and outer loop, and the Seongsu and Sinjeong branches sit in their own tabs. Start it at Mullae, go do something else, and at some point you notice you are past City Hall and coming into Gangnam. That drift is the whole thing.
How to play
- Press play and it keeps going
- Every announcement hands off to the next station on its own, and because it is a loop the last station leads back to the first. You only touch it when you want it to stop.
- Tap any station to jump
- Tap a station on the map and it jumps straight to that announcement. The current stop keeps itself centred, so you never chase the list around.
- Inner, outer, and two branches
- The toggle at the top flips the direction, and the tabs move you onto the Seongsu branch (Seongsu to Sinseol-dong) or the Sinjeong branch (Sindorim to Kkachisan). The branches are shuttles rather than loops, so they turn around at each end.
- The audio is the official recording
- The announcements are the per-station recordings released by Seoul Metro. The one exception is Ahyeon on the outer loop, which has no official file and passes in silence, and that is not a fault.

- How many stations are in it?
- Forty three on the main loop, plus five each on the Seongsu and Sinjeong branches. The order on the map follows the real line.
- One station plays no sound
- Ahyeon on the outer loop has no official recording, so it passes in silence for a moment. Every other station plays normally.
- Is there no score?
- There is none. This is something to listen to rather than win, so leave it running and follow the stations as they go by.
- Does the sound work on a phone?
- It plays the same in a phone, tablet or desktop browser. There is no app to download, it is free, and it needs one Google sign-in.
