About this game

Every tap flips a plus-shaped patch of lights. Switch them all off across five stages

What this game is

A 5ร—5 board starts with some lights on. Tapping a light flips it along with the ones above, below, left and right, and switching every light off clears the stage.

The puzzle comes from an electronic toy from 1995. Every board here is built by pressing backwards from all-off, so it can always be solved within the tap count shown.

How to play

Order does not matter
Pressing a tile twice is the same as not pressing it, and the order of presses never changes the result. The only question is which tiles to press.
Chase the lights down
A lit tile in the top row can be switched off by pressing the tile right below it. Work down one row at a time and only the bottom row is left to solve.
Hints cost 20
Stuck? The hint outlines one tile of the shortest solution. It takes 20 points off that stage, so use it sparingly.

Frequently asked questions

How is the score worked out?
Each stage starts at 100, loses 10 for every tap over the stated count and 20 for each hint, with a floor of 10. The total over five stages is your score.
What does reset do?
It puts the stage back to how it started. Your tap count keeps going.
Can a board be unsolvable?
No. Every board is made by working backwards from a solved one.
