About this game

The classic: use number clues to open every safe tile. Your first tap is always safe

What this game is

Mines hide under some tiles, and every number you uncover tells you how many of the eight tiles around it are mines. Open every tile that is not a mine to win.

Your first tile and everything around it are always mine-free, so every game opens with a safe patch. There are three boards: easy 9ร—9, medium 10ร—14 and hard 12ร—16.

How to play

Planting flags
Long-press a suspected mine, or switch to flag mode at the bottom and tap. On a computer, right-click works too.
Open around a number at once
Tap a number whose flags already match it and the rest of its neighbours open in one go. If a flag is wrong, that is where the mine goes off.
When two 1s sit side by side
A 1 next to a 1 along a wall means the mine sits under only one of them. The more of these small patterns you know, the less you have to guess.

Frequently asked questions

Can the first tap hit a mine?
No. Mines are placed after your first tap, and that tile and its neighbours are always left clear.
How is the score worked out?
Take the level's base (easy 300, medium 600, hard 1000) and subtract twice the seconds taken, with a floor of 10. Hitting a mine scores nothing.
Are some boards pure guesswork?
Mines are laid at random, so now and then you reach a true fifty-fifty. Starting a new board is always an option.
